En 1967 un océanographe découvre par hasard les ruines d'une cité submergée au large de la côte grecque. Ces vestiges mystérieux renferment les secrets d'une civilisation perdue, vieille de plusieurs milliers d'années. La ville de Pavlopétri pourrait même être la plus ancienne cité engloutie de l'histoire. A son apogée, elle comptait plus d'une centaine de bâtiments et s'étendait sur près de 100 000 mètres carrés. Aujourd'hui, grâce à un changement de direction des courants marins, la ville se retrouve exposée pour la première fois. Pour les archéologues, c'est une chance inespérée de comprendre ses secrets. Mais ils doivent agir vite.
